They ask me: "Where do you get your fits from?"💥
In case you just wanted the answer, it's Jordan Clarkson, Kanye West, Kyle Kuzma and Bloody Osiris.
A question I’ve heard time and time again. I think I finally have the answers. But first, what even is my fashion type?
In short, my stuff is mostly streetwear. I’d say it’s heavily influenced by hip hop and the NBA. So you can expect a lot of that on this list. On the other hand, I’m not big on being super bold. Keeping up with trends is big for me but at the end of the day, if it doesn’t click with me, it won’t get my endorsement.
I also hate the idea that fashion must mean designer or expensive clothes. A lot of people think that if they spend thousands on an outfit or shoes, that it means they got drip. Brooo, I can’t stand that.
Dressing well is about how you execute the whole fit, not about how much it costs. So, let’s get to it.
Jordan Clarkson (Overall OG Fashion Man⚡️)
This dude is the fashion OG. He pays a lot of attention to detail and his fits don’t miss. Through him, I’ve learned about the importance of the finer details. Stuff like, how the pants should taper at the ankle but still stay a bit baggy and the value of small accessories, whether it be a skull cap or bag.
Patterns are a big thing I picked up from his end too. Combining patterns and colors and just having a sleek finish to end it off. The fits always have some sort of urban twist to them. That always resonated with me since I’ve been an urban kid for most of my life. The last thing to notice about him is the experimentation. I get new ideas of how to mix concepts without being over the top. Like I mentioned earlier, over-the-top fashion isn’t my thing, so this is my perfect mix.
Kanye West (The Lifestyle King👑)
This pic is CRAZY. Kanye is the king of neutral colors. He matches that with the comfort and lifestyle aesthetic to promote versatility while still showing that he gave his fits thought. When it comes down to color coordination, I get my inspiration from Kanye. I mean, he doesn’t typically have any vibrant colors in his wardrobe (as of recent). But his ability to bring back neutral tones is unparalleled.
On top of that, his biggest thing is how the clothes fit. Fitting clothes is one of the most important arts in fashion. Something might look good on paper, but how it fits on your body is another story.
Puffy jackets, polygonal sunglasses, chains, his accessory game isn’t soft either. Kanye’s style is modern, soft and relaxed.
Kyle Kuzma (Flashy Drip🤑)
I wasn’t playing when I said the NBA had a big influence on my style. Here’s another one. Kyle Kuzma. Playing on one of the world’s most famous teams, I’d say he’s similar to Jordan Clarkson but on a more expensive and experimental vibe. He’s shown me how to pull off those vibrant pieces, the “one-time” fits. Keeping up with his taste, you tend you pick up on new trends pretty quickly. I’d say he’s a good proxy for what fashion trends are going to explode next.
On occasion you catch a glimpse of smart casual and high fashion. That stuff helps me figure out how I want to dress for a more formal function. Nevertheless, lots of ideas flow from his visions and you never know what to expect next.
Bloody Osiris (Urban Experimentals🧪)
Futuristic, urban inspired, experimental, all of the above. Bloody is the furthest from my daily style. His style is eccentric and always bold. Whether it be bold hip hop or bold punk, the thing is, it’s always bold.
Now, bold is very different from what I like to do, but I like to get ideas from his pieces. What kinda boots to look for, fitting baggy winter jackets, and how to style face coverings are just some thoughts.
Personally, I think a lot of his stuff looks best on camera rather than in person but I can’t deny his innovation and creativity. He embodies the sound of hip hop through his fashion so it doesn’t surprise me that even Travis Scott had him style him before. With Bloody, I only sprinkle a bit of his vision on my fits, too much of it and I feel like I’ve overwhelmed the look.
This was about daily wear but what about everything else?
This was my overall daily streetwear vibe and these four have been my go-to for ideas. When it comes to specific functions like formal events or seasons like the summer, I’ve got different sources of inspiration. Comment down below what specific style you want me discussing next. Till the next wave.
